FAQ

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY SILVER JEWELLERY?

Sterling silver can quite easily become tarnished over time, this is a natural chemical reaction that occurs when the silver is exposed to substances in the air. However there are several things you can do to delay this process.

While wearing your jewellery, try to avoid contact with products such as moisturiser, hair spray and perfume. Your jewellery should be the last part of your outfit you put on. Also, avoid wearing silver while washing up, cleaning, cooking, bathing and swimming.

I supply a silver polishing cloth that you can use to give items a quick buff after taking them off. When you’re not wearing your jewellery, keep it in a closed container such as a jewellery box.  The small silica sachets that come with so many purchases are great for keeping your jewellery box nice and dry, so don’t chuck them straight in the bin.

Lastly, one of the best ways to keep your silver shiny is to wear it frequently, so get out there and show it off!

ARE ALL ITEMS HALLMARKED?

Any sterling silver item over 7.78 grams must, by law, be hallmarked. I’m registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office (where I also have my own registered Maker's Mark) and all of my jewellery over the threshold is sent there to be tested and hallmarked. My lower weighted items are unhallmarked, but are made with the same 925 Sterling Silver, which I source from one of the UK's most reputable precious metal suppliers, Cooksongold, to maintain the quality of materials used.

Ask if it’s hallmarked – it’s your guarantee.

What do you make your jewellery from?

I use a number of mediums, but mainly I work with 925 Sterling Silver, 14ct Gold Filled or Copper wire to wrap a variety of semi-precious gem-stones / cabachons.

I also use the wire to create 'jump rings' which I use as a basis to create my chain maille inspired Societas Collection.  Using traditional weaves and methods, I create real contemporary pieces.

ARE ALL ITEMS HAndmade?

Yes, I make all the items myself from scratch using traditional techniques. The only components I don’t make are clasps, fine chains, earring hooks / backs and the gemstones themselves, I leave that up to Mother Nature....

WHERE DO THE PRODUCTS COME FROM?

I make all the items myself, in my small workshop at home, near Edinburgh in Scotland.

WHAT RING SIZE AM I?

A lot of my rings are adjustable, which will be stated in the description, however, some weaves I use for rings are too intricate to be able to successfully create them in very small sizes, or as an adjustable ring.  However, if you see something on my site which is to your liking but is not in your size, please get in contact and I'd be happy to discuss.

To find out your ring size, ideally you need a ring sizer, any jeweller would be able to help you with this. If you’re local to me, get in contact to organise a time and I’ll get you measured up.

As an alternative solution, you can buy plastic ring sizers quite cheaply on sites like Amazon or eBay, which look a little like zip tags. Or you can use a strip of paper, wraping it around your finger (not too tight), marking it where the paper crosses and then measuring in millimetres to your markfrom the end. With that measurement I can determine your size.

These alternative ways of measuring aren’t always ideal, due to the flexible nature of the plastic and paper, but they can work. Just remember, it’s very important to make sure either will go over your knuckle, as, generally, that is the widest part of the finger.

Please remember, this size will only be suitable for bands of less than 4mm. For wide band rings, you may need to go up a size or more.
